03:2016: Ddicas Pilot in Lisbon, LxFactory: 6th to 8th May 2016

Together with COPELABS and MainSide SGPS, we are organizing a pilot of the DDicas project to occur in Lisbon, LxFactory OpenDay in May 2016. The pilot allows visitors to get real-time information concerning available activities and events to occur on May 2016. Download the DDicasM application and enjoy announces in advance about activities to occur!

01.2016: DDicas project open!

DDicas is a project being developed in cooperation by Senception Lda and the R&D unit COPELABS. The DDicas portal targets entities that are willing to provide to the regular citizen promotions, announcements, etc, in real-time and based on the citizen preferences. The citizen can profit from such promotions by using the DDicas Mobile application. Do check it out!

06.2015: Senception @COPELABS Open Day 2015

Senception attended the R&D unit COPELABS Open Day 2015, on June 18th 2015, in the quality of spin-off project of COPELABS. In this context, Senception (Igor Santos) has demonstrated a pre-beta version of the PerSense T-Kiddo plugin. T-Kiddo is an Android application that, together with PerSense, focuses on children's safety prevention and children's social routine improvement. A first version of T-Kiddo is expected to be commercially available on the fourth quarter of 2015.

06.2015: UMobile: Universal, Mobile-centric and Opportunistic Communications Architecture

A new European project that extends the Internet geographically, operationally, as well as socially.

UMobile combines two emerging architectural approaches, namely Information-centric networking and Delay-tolerant networking, to build a novel architecture that allows for new services but also exploits local information better. The project has just conlcuded its early phase of designing pilot, representative use cases: UMobile will deploy scenarios that include free Internet access, micro-blogging at neighborhood level, emergency situations in isolated but also in crowded areas with temporary lack of communication facilities. The project will be delivered by the end of January 2018.

The project is a joint effort of SPICE/Democritus University of Thrace (Greece), University College London (UK), University of Cambridge (UK), COPELABS--COFAC (Portugal), TECNALIA (Spain), TEKEVER AU (Portugal), Senception (Portugal), Fon Technology (Spain) and AFA Systems (Italy).

Coordinated by Democritus University of Thrace/SPICE, and  counts with a total of 9 partners, including academia and industry. Its total budget is 3,010,742 €.

In UMOBILE, Senception coordinates work package 4 (service definition and QoS aspects) and contributes with its know-how in pervasive sensing, both conceptually and as developers/integrators. Senception shall provide its core pervasive middleware platform, PerSense/T-Kiddo, to assist in developing contextual inference that is required in UMOBILE.

12.2014: Senception Launches Kidzi

As an innovative start-up, our team is keen in contributing to developing new ways to deal with technological entrepreneurship. We participate in several activities that have in common this goal.

Our most recent effort in terms of incepting innovation in early stages is Kidzi.

Kidzi intends to bring awareness to schools and to parents, as well as educators in general, about patenting 101, one of the steps we believe is relevant to explain to kids, to incept entrepreneurship roots at an early stage.

11.2014: New Project UMOBILE

UMOBILE is a research and development project funded by the European Commission under Horizon 2020, Strategic objective: ICT-05-2014 - Smart Networks and novel Internet Architectures.

Coordinated by Democritus University of Thrace, UMOBILE counts with a total of 9 partners, including academia and industry.

In UMOBILE, Senception contributes with its know-how in pervasive sensing, both conceptually and as developers/integrators. Senception shall provide its core pervasive middleware platform, to assist in developing contextual inference that is required in UMOBILE.

UMOBILE focuses on assisting users in getting access to the content they want or content that may be of shared interest to their trust circles. By relying on an
instance of the UMOBILE architecture, users are able to share information directly with other peers without relying on infrastructure or expensive connectivity services. The proposed architecture targets the mobile part of the networks, extends Internet connectivity to regions that are not typically covered enhancing network resilience and is fully backward compatible with the current Internet architecture.

10.2013: Senception in ICT2013 exhibit, 6-8th November 2013, Vilnius

As spin-off derived from the European project ULOOP, Senception shall be attending ICT2013 in the ULOOP exhibit, stand 4C11.

ULOOP has been selected out of 260 projects to be exhibited in ICT2013, in Vilnius, on 6 to 8th November 2013.

The ULOOP exhibit comprises several technological demos based upon open-source software that has been developed as proof-of-concept for OpenWRT, as well as for end-user devices. The exhibit shall also explain how third parties can use the software to further develop user-centric services in the context of wireless networks.
